We are delighted to have now received from the Local Authority the names of the children who will be joining us at Hunnyhill in September 2021.

We have made contact with each family using the e-mail address which you provided to the Local Authority on your application form.  This e-mail was sent out by us on Monday 19th April.  If you have been offered a place at Hunnyhill, but have changed your e-mail since you submitted your application, please call us to give us your updated address.   If it appears that you have not received our e-mail, please check your spam/junk mailbox in case it has popped into there.

In the e-mail we have sent 4 individual links for our initial registration paperwork which we ask you to complete by no later than 30th April.  The 4 links will take you into the following paperwork

  • Registration Form

  • Previous Childcare Setting (please complete even if there is none)

  • Use of Images Consent Form

  • School Trips and Off-Site Activity Consent Form

We anticipate that the Registration Document should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete and the remaining 3, no more than 5 minutes each.  Simply press the ‘submit’ button at the end of each form and you will get an automated response to let you know it has been received by us.  These forms will give us valuable information about you and your child which will help us prepare for them joining us in September.

In these unprecedented times, we appreciate that there may be a lot of extra anxiety and uncertainty but please be assured that we are committed to making the transition to school for you and your child as smooth as possible, and will keep you updated at every stage of the process.

We are very excited about welcoming you and your family to our school.  We are proud of all our pupils and hope that you are looking forward to a successful learning journey with us at Hunnyhill Primary School where all of our pupils are Proud To Belong.

We are busy adapting and arranging stay and play sessions and fun family activities to aid in your child’s transition and as soon as government guidance allows, will inform you of our plans over forthcoming weeks.  We will be adding useful information to this section of the website between now and the end of July so please check in every couple of weeks.

In the meanwhile, if you have any questions or concerns, we ask that you use the dedicated ‘new intake’ email address which is checked frequently throughout the day:

and a member of staff will get back to you as soon as they can with a response.  Alternatively you can telephone the school on 01983 522506.

We look forward to meeting you soon.

Free School Meals

Registering could raise money for Hunnyhill Primary

It’s important to sign up for free school meals if applicable.  Aside from providing your child with a hot nutritious meal each day, registering your child could also raise an extra £1300 for the school from central government to fund valuable support like extra tuition, learning assistants or after school clubs.

Even if you will be sending your child in with a packed lunch initially and do not want your child to receive the free meal, if you think you qualify, we would encourage you to register for free school meals anyway.  By doing so, it will help us to claim an extra £1300 for each qualifying pupil which is money that the school can benefit from and use to fund new equipment or teaching resources for the use of all children.

To register for your child to receive free school meals, please click on the link below which will take you directly into the Isle of Wight Council web page where you can see if you qualify and make your application.

Free School Meals - Service Details (

If you do not receive any qualifying benefits then you do not need to make an application. There are 2 distinct categories – UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meals) and FSM (Free School Meals).

Putting it simply, the UFSM schemes provide all primary school pupils with a free school lunch regardless of their family's household income or whether their guardians are in receipt of particular qualifying benefits. Therefore all Early Years children will be provided with a hot meal at no cost to you every day if you wish them to under the UIFSM scheme (and you can decide that each day after they start).

Families who are in receipt of certain benefits can make an additional application for FSM’s which then allows the school to apply for additional funding which will benefit the whole school, and these are the families who need to complete the form.

Thank you.
