Isle of Wight Radio is giving schools the opportunity to record a radio show to be broadcast on Sunday afternoons and yesterday was our turn to enter the studio. We had six budding radio presenters armed with their script and selection of music.
Heather McCallum who presents the Afternoon Show on Isle of Wight Radio is in charge of the Studio B project and soon got the children recording. It is safe to say that the children really enjoyed the experience and were passing on tips to Mrs Steedman when she ended up in front of the microphone.
You will have to wait and hear what the children had to say and what music they and their classmates chose for the show. As soon as we have a date for the broadcast we will let you know.

A big thank you to all that attended the Science Evening on Wednesday. We had a variety of science and engineering activities for you to try out.
The Space Lab dominated the proceedings with its view of the stars under its wobbly dome. Mrs Goodfellow was very strict in the spaghetti and marshmallow bridge competition but many of you managed to complete the challenge.
Mrs Gallop was in complete charge of the Bee-Bots and Miss Taylor and Mrs Steedman challenged you to float your paper boat.
Miss Hetherington was in charge of electricity for the evening with her serial and parallel circuits.
We all hope you enjoyed your evening of science at Hunnyhill.
The mighty Star Dome dominated the hall with its host Mr Davis.

Spaghetti and Marshmallows can support an egg, really! The boats were floating with Mrs Steedman and Miss Taylor.
A warm welcome back at the start of a new school year at Hunnyhill.
This new school year holds a very different role for me as I have moved from teaching Year 4 and my role as Assistant Head to acting Head Teacher. I will remain in this post until a new permanent Head Teacher is appointed, then return back to my role as teacher and Assistant Head.
As a staff we are all looking forward to the year ahead and the challenges and changes that will take place.
If you have been into the school you will have noticed many changes. Our Reception class in now based in the two classrooms off the school hall, this gives the children easy access to the outside area, more role-play/creative play space and the toilets have also been refurbished with small toilet pans, giving the children more independence.
KS1 and KS2 classes are all based along the bottom corridor and the old library room at the end of the corridor will become a school gym with child sized equipment.
We will continue to hold our Golden Assembly on a Friday morning at 9.05 a.m. In this assembly parents, carers, family and friends can join us to celebrate children's work, awards and certificates. This is on opportunity to celebrate achievements both in and out of school.
Class assemblies will now take place on a Thursday morning at 9.05am. These assemblies will be advertised, in the newsletters.
We will continue to hold curriculum events in school, fundraising and charity events too. All in all a busy and exciting year ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the school and we look forward to your
continued support.
Lisa Steedman
