Kingfisher’s held their class assembly in the afternoon and what a fantastic number of adults came to see the super work Kingfisher Class has been doing.
The assembly started with a play and dance based on the story and now movie “Where The Wild Things Are”. There was definitely a Wild Thing Rumpus happening in the hall.
Kingfisher’s have also been learning about road safety and sung us song on remembering how to cross the road safely as well as information on road safety matters. The children had also drawn road signs which the rest of the school had to guess there meaning.
Well done Kingfisher class for a super assembly. Below we have a few pictures from the assembly.

What a fantastic “Jolly Postman” assembly from Wren’s Class. We really enjoyed the acting and singing, so much so we sung the songs again at Golden Assembly on Friday. Well done Wren’s Class!

If you want to sing along at home then here are the songs we sung.
Alice The Camel
Boom Chicka Boom

The race to the South Pole was the subject of Puffin’s Class assembly today. The race between Scott and Amundsen that ended in the triumph of Amundsen and the tragic death of Scott and his team was studied as part of our explorers topic.
We have been learning about the two leaders of the expeditions, interesting facts about Antarctica and what factor ultimately led to Amundsen becoming the first man to reach both the North and South Pole.
Below you will see some pictures from our assembly. We also have some pictures on our class door so if you missed this wonderful assembly please take a look.
Above: Amundsen in his Inuit clothing while Scott opted for layers of cotton and wool. Amundsen used dogs to pull his sledge while Scott’s sledge was pulled by the men! Amundsen took 118 Huskies to the South Pole only 11 returned to base camp. The rest died, escaped or were used for food for the other dogs!
The dog in our assembly was very well behaved, but not quite a Husky!
Above: Some of art work from the assembly showing Amundsen’s sledge being pulled by dogs and Scotts use of Snow tractors. Both the tractors broke down and we won’t tell you about the horses he took with him.
Today our assembly was given by Dan and Tom from Wightlink Raiders and Wightlink Tigers respectively. They introduced us to the game of Ice Hockey. We watched a short 5 minute film of highlights from one of their recent games. It was very physical and extremely fast!
Dan and Tom then showed us the protective clothing and other kit that a goalkeeper and an outfield player needs to wear. Some brave children even tried on the kit as you can see in the picture.
Tom, who is an ice-skating coach, told us about skating for fun or taking up the sport of Figure Skating.
We would like to thank Dan and Tom for talking to us about Ice Hockey and for leaving information and free tickets for children when an adult takes them to a game.
